Som Bahadur Gurung (Som Gurung)

Founder & Managing Director

Som Bahadur Gurung, widely known as Som Gurung, is the founder of Himalayan Guide Treks Pvt. Ltd. and a passionate trekking professional with more than 15 years of experience in Nepal’s tourism industry.

Born in Thumi Village (now Aarughat Rural Municipality–3), Gorkha District, in the beautiful Manaslu Region of Nepal, Som grew up surrounded by the magnificent Himalayas. His deep connection with the mountains inspired him to pursue a lifelong career in adventure tourism.

Som began his trekking career in 2010 as a trekking porter, where he gained invaluable experience by supporting trekkers on some of Nepal’s most challenging trails. After two years of dedication and learning, he advanced to become a Sherpa/assistant guide, further strengthening his mountain expertise and leadership skills.

In 2013, Som became a licensed Trekking Guide, dedicating himself to leading trekking groups safely through Nepal’s diverse landscapes. Since then, he has successfully guided travelers from around the world on renowned trekking routes including Everest Base Camp, Annapurna, Manaslu Circuit, Langtang, Nar Phu Valley, Upper Mustang, and many other spectacular Himalayan destinations.

With an educational background of Higher Secondary (+2) and extensive practical experience in the field, Som combines local knowledge, technical expertise, and genuine hospitality to deliver exceptional trekking experiences. His priorities are safety, professionalism, environmental responsibility, and personalized service.

Today, Som leads Himalayan Guide Treks Pvt. Ltd. with a vision of sharing Nepal’s extraordinary mountains, culture, and traditions while ensuring every guest enjoys a safe, meaningful, and unforgettable journey.
