The adventure takes you around massif peaks from east, north, and west to south of the world’s 8th highest Mt. Manaslu. Which is at the height of 8,163 m / 26,781 feet high and stands in between Annapurna and Ganesh Himal.
Manaslu Circuit Trekking is quite different than other normal trekking adventures as the region falls within the Restricted Area of Nepal.
Where all trekkers require a special permit to enter, the upper Manaslu was once closed for outside visitors.
Opened from 1991 onwards, since then the area is gaining much popularity and drawing visitors every season of the year. However, one of the least visited areas around Nepal Himalayas, is the Annapurna, Everest, and Langtang region.
This makes Manaslu Circuit Trekking special and exclusive, as the high country of Manaslu valley remained forbidden for many years.
The charm and beauty of Manaslu Circuit Trekking are its wonderful scenery, change of landscapes, vegetation, and climates. Including the local immense cultures of high Manaslu valley impressive villages, adorned with age-old heritage.
The adventure begins by reaching the low and heavily farmed areas of Nepal Mid-West around the Gorkha district. As the walk proceeds heading higher cooler hills amidst a lovely forest of rhododendron, pines, and fir trees. Reaching lovely villages Jagat, Philim, Deng to Lo-Gaon, interesting settlements of strong Buddhism religion and cultures. From Lo-Gaon enter the scenic high valley of Manaslu with grand views of majestic Mt. Manaslu and adjoining snow peaks.
Walk heads further west facing picturesque scenery to Sama-Gaon, the main village of upper Manaslu. Which is on route to Manaslu base camp, Larke-La Pass, and towards the border of Tibet. Located on the ancient Trans Himalaya Salt Trade route between Nepal and Tibet, where trade took place between the two countries.
Spending extra days at Sama-Gaon to explore its traditional villages and scenic viewpoints, as well as for acclimatization. After Sama-Gaon on the high road to Larke Phedi, the bottom of the pass on leaving the last Samdo village.
Dharmasala or Larke Phedi is a small settlement with few huts serving as lodges for travelers. From Dharmasala, an early morning adventurous long steep climb leads to the top of Larke-La, the highest point of the trek. Enjoy the grand vista of high Himalayan peaks that surrounds the scenic pass of Larke-La.
